Sony Files Trademark for Controller With Straps

As reported by Dual Shockers, a new patent filed by Sony has been spotted by Twitter user Zuby_Tech, detailing designs for a controller with a strap much alike the Valve Index Knuckles. The patent, filed on March 31st, labels this strap as a “wearing member,” and is meant to keep the controller in your hands while playing.

While further details aren’t currently known, one possibility is that this is a prototype for the as-of-yet unfinalized PSVR2 controller. If it does operate like the Valve Index Knuckle, this strap will allow players to simulate picking up objects in their games, ensuring a more realistic gameplay experience.

Details about the PSVR2 are expected to be coming soon, as industry insider Tom Henderson recently Tweeted that emails are going out to certain gaming journalists titled “Introducing PlayStation VR2.”
