Forspoken, the highly anticipated, true-next gen title from Luminous Productions will now release on January 24, 2023. Forspoken is one of only a handful of AAA games that will not be published for previous-gen hardware. With the PS5 approaching its second birthday, developers and publishers have struggled to fully transition to current consoles. The reasons are myriad, and mostly the same ones that have forced many games to continually push back their releases or remain in early access.
Forspoken, which deals with a New York woman named Frey who finds herself transported to a magical world, has seen previous delays, even while it has been available for pre order since January. Now, in a tweet from July 6, Square and Luminous explain that it is delayed again for strategic reasons. According to the announcement, the game is in the “final polishing” stage and that another close look at the game is coming later this summer.
Are you looking forward to Forspoken? Have you gotten used to the delays that now seem part-and-parcel to video game hype cycles? Talk about it down in the comments or over at the Boss Rush Discord!
