Disney Releases Second Trailer for Live-Action Pinocchio movie

Disney released its second trailer for its upcoming live adaptation of Pinocchio set to release on Disney Plus on Sept. 8.

This trailer, unlike the first one, showcases more of Pinocchio as a puppet as well as many other characters from the original movie. Each of these characters have much more dialogue than the first trailer as well.

There are some big names attached to this project including Tom Hanks playing Geppetto and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket. Furthermore, Robert Zemeckis, of The Polar Express and Back to the Future fame, is directing the movie.

Other cast members include Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Pinocchio, Keegan-Michael Key as Honest John, and Luke Evans as the Coachman of Pleasure Island.

Pinocchio will be the first of two movies based on the classic story. Guillermo del Toro is directing a stop-motion movie for Netflix that will feature Ewan McGregor as Cricket.

You know that meme where it shows the mother playing with the little kid in the pool while another kid seemingly dips below the water and a skeleton sits at the bottom of the ocean? That sort of feels like what Disney is doing with its live action remakes.

Don’t get me wrong, Pinocchio has a lot of firepower behind enough to make me watch it but it’s not the live-action remake I’d like to see. I’d love to see Disney put its weight behind an Atlantis or Treasure Planet remake featuring some work from Lucasfilms.

Still, I’m mildly intrigued with this remake mainly because of the names behind it and, at this point, Hanks can do little wrong.
