On Tuesday, Cold Iron Studios revealed the latest installment in the Aliens gaming franchise, announcing a Summer 2021 release of Aliens: Fireteam. The game appears to address many of the frustrations voiced by fans disappointed with the 2013 shooter, Aliens: Colonial Marines, which soured gamers hoping for better Xenomorph AI and a clear commitment to horror or combat in terms of gameplay style.

Aliens: Fireteam will feature a 3rd person style shooter (rather than the 1st person view in Aliens: Colonial Marines), and will give players a wide range of control as they choose from five specialization roles and work together to “survive the hive”. Gamers will have the option of selecting the role of Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc, and Recon as they work in a team of three to rescue colonists and engage in a good old fashioned ‘bug hunt’. Also of note, the game will feature a variety of Xenomorphs, as well as Synthetic enemies.
