Supergiant Games’ latest project is now available in Early Access on Steam and Epic Games. Hades II, like the 2020 hit Hades, is a roguelite Action RPG centered around Greek mythology. You played as Zagreus, son of Hades, determined to escape the underworld. The sequel’s protagonist, his sister Melinoë, must descend into the underworld to defeat the titan Chronos. It’s an interesting inversion of the original game’s plot, treading new ground in familiar territory.

Given that Hades II is an Early Access release, you’d be correct in assuming that it’s not wholly complete. Some art assets have placeholders, the story isn’t absolutely finished, and it’s a little rougher around the edges than the full game will be. Even with that said, Supergiant Games stated that the current version already has more content than the final version of the original Hades.

It’s unknown how long Hades II will be in early access. The first game was in the program for just under two years before everything was settled. If history repeats, then we could be looking at an official release near the end of 2025, or the beginning of 2026.

The early access version of the game is priced at 29.99 USD and available on Steam and Epic Games.
