Sucker Punch has always made great experiences. The Sly Cooper trilogy on PlayStation 2 was a masterclass in platforming while Infamous and Infamous 2 on the PlayStation 3 made the studio a household name with their unique take on open world superhero games. After Infamous Second Son and First Light at the launch of the PlayStation 4, however, Sucker Punch decided to go in another, more unique and challenging direction. What fans received was nothing short of masterful in the open-world Samurai inspired game, Ghost of Tsushima.
The American based developer took a huge risk in developing a game with another culture in mind, but showed that they could design the game with great care and respect for Feudal Japanese culture while taking some creative liberties for the sake of making a fun and interesting video game. Even Jin Sekai, the main protagonist, perfectly represented the Samurai teachings of the times. Some of the more prominent Japanese developers like Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi stated how much they enjoyed the game as well.
It seems more than a few people enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima too, as Sucker Punch announced this week that their game sold more than 8 million units worldwide, making it a bonafide hit as a PlayStation exclusive.
Ghost of Tsushima is available on PlayStation 4 and on PlayStation 5 in it’s Director’s Cut form. Also released late last year was the Iki Island DLC, a brand new island adventure for players to explore. Did you enjoy Ghost of Tsushima? Let us know in our Discord or Facebook group!
