Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal are some of the most impressive single player shooters of the modern age. Its puzzle-like shooting mechanics, speed, and enemy design make it instantly recognizable. After selling over 10 million units each, it makes sense that there seems to be a third game on the way.
In a recent job listing, first reported by XboxWorlds, id Software seems to be looking for a new combat director with Doom knowledge.
Though the rumor was originally that id Software was working on Quake, it seems that is not entirely true. Doom 3 will likely conclude this iteration’s story, so they probably want to do it right. It is worth noting that this third entry will probably be an Xbox/PC exclusive due to Microsoft’s purchasing of Bethesda in 2020.
