As of November 21st, Slay the Princess has hit a major milestone, selling over 500,000 copies globally.
To celebrate the milestone, developer Black Tabby Games gave away 500 free copies of Slay the Princess, as well as releasing a new poster featuring the many iterations of the Princess.
Releasing on October 23rd, 2023, Slay the Princess is a visual novel horror adventure in which the player is tasked with finding and killing the princess, as the world will evidently end if she escapes. The game takes place across a number of cycles that respond to choices made by the player, as both the hero and princess inevitably embrace a variety of unsettling and gruesome fates that await them.
Slay the Princess is a swimming success for developer Black Tabby Games, featuring an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam and a 90% Metascore on Metacritic. This is in addition to a win at the World Soundtrack Awards in 2024, and earning a place on the 2024 GWB Game Awards shortlist.
The half-million milestone was reached across a variety of platforms, as Slay The Princess is currently available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch, and PC via ports for Windows, macOS, and Linux, for $17.99.
