Free League Publishing has announced that their Lord of the Rings Roleplaying supplement for the 5th edition of Dungeons and Dragons is now available on D&D Beyond. The supplement is based on the second edition of The One Ring roleplaying game, and is fully compatible with the Dungeons and Dragons ruleset. With six new classes, six new cultures and backgrounds for each, and dozens of “virtues” to select from, you shouldn’t have any trouble creating a character to fit Middle Earth.
The ruleset adds new mechanics to bolster the experience of a fellowship. This includes specific phases of the game for traveling as a group, a shared pool of points to draw extra strength from in times of need, and the chance to select a “Patron” with an interest in the group. The simplest example of such a character would be someone like Gandalf, though Bilbo Baggins and Elrond are also available in-game.
The supplement also offers plenty of additional tools for running a game set in Middle-Earth. More than twenty stat blocks for different enemies, a setting guide for Eriador in the Third Age, and maps and tokens are available to make use of in crafting an adventure.
If you’ve found yourself with the desire to form a fellowship and go on a quest in Middle Earth, this supplement is up your alley. This version of The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying can be found on D&D Beyond.
