But where to start?
Vaesen — Nordic Horror Roleplaying
Vaesen is a marriage of Victorian detective fiction (Sherlock Holmes is one example from a vibrant genre), gothic horror, and fae horror like Pan’s Labyrinth or the stories of Arthur Machen. This game formed the basis of one of my favorite campaigns I’ve played as GM.
Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying is written by Nils Hintze and based on the work of Swedish illustrator and author Johan Egerkrans. Vaesen presents a dark Gothic setting steeped in Nordic folklore and the old myths of Scandinavia. The game mechanics utilize an adapted version of the award-winning Year Zero Engine. Key features:

Blade Runner
The Blade Runner RPG is not only a fantastic representation of Blade Runner, but a perfect condensation of film noir tropes and mechanics. It’s become my go-to for mysteries with a certain shadowed style, whether they’re set in a cyberpunk world or seventy years in the past. The game’s replicants are interesting, and play differently than humans in intriguing ways.
The official Blade Runner RPG propels you into the streets of Los Angeles as Blade Runners with unique specialties, personalities – and memories. The game pushes the boundaries of investigative gameplay in tabletop RPGs, giving you a range of tools to solve an array of cases far beyond retiring Replicants.
Beyond the core casework, the game showcases the key themes of Blade Runner – sci-fi action, corporate intrigue, existential character drama, and moral conflict. It challenges you to question your friends, empathize with your enemies, and explore the poisons and perseverance of hope and humanity during inhumane times.
The rules of the game are based on the acclaimed Year Zero Engine, used in award-winning games such as the ALIEN RPG, Tales From the Loop and Forbidden Lands, but further developed and uniquely tailored for BLADE RUNNER.

The ALIEN RPG Line
All except the most recent books are discounted. The ALIEN RPG is a deeply horrifying descent into a world of corporate excess and xenomorphs, which does a great job representing not only the terror but the personal conflicts between the protagonists. Players need to navigate their secret goals and opinions as the threat becomes ever more dire. It’s a perfect representation of the ALIEN series.
The ALIEN tabletop roleplaying game is a beautifully illustrated full-color hardcover book of a massive 392 pages, both presenting the world of ALIEN in the year 2183 and a fast and effective ruleset designed specifically to enhance the ALIEN experience. The game supports two distinct game modes:
Cinematic play is based on pre-made scenarios that emulate the dramatic arc of an ALIEN film. Designed to be played in a single session, this game mode emphasizes high stakes and fast and brutal play. You are not all expected to survive. The core rulebook contains one complete Cinematic scenario.
Campaign play is designed for longer continuous play with the same cast of player characters over many game sessions, letting you explore the ALIEN universe freely, sandbox style. The core rulebook contains random tables and other powerful tools to quickly create star systems, colonies, missions, encounters, and NPCs for your campaign.
