The dawn of the Switch 2 will herald the arrival of new games in Nintendo’s relevant franchises, and this includes The Legend of Zelda. No doubt we can expect further ports and remasters of previous titles, the next big 3D entry is inevitable, and the future of 2D Zelda is bright as well.
But none of this is needed. As a society, we can live without Breath of the Wild 3 or the next 2D title to reuse the map from A Link to the Past. There is something that we as a fanbase need, and the time is ripe to receive it,
I am, of course, referring to a sequel to Link’s Crossbow Training. Released in 2007 for the Nintendo Wii, and bundled with the Wii Zapper peripheral, Link’s Crossbow Training is the result of what was initially intended to be a full-fledged sequel to Twilight Princess. Over time the scope was reduced, and the end goal was changed, until the project transformed from a sequel to the action-packed Twilight Princess into a lightgun-esque shooter that can be beaten in 3 hours.

And you know what?
Worth it.
I love Link’s Crossbow Training, and I am left yearning for more crossbow action. I want to shoot my way through the Hyrule offered in Breath of the Wild, or do some mounted shooting while riding a Loftwing around Skyloft! I want a boss battle against a Lynel that is every bit as epic as the climactic battle against Stallord in Link’s Crossbow Training! The opportunities are endless.

More importantly, it is a chance to irrevocably improve the Zelda franchise by bringing back the best character to ever debut in the series, Linkle. The Hyrule Warriors character makes every room brighter simply through her existence, and c’mon, she fights with crossbows. It is quite clearly a match made in heaven. Link’s Crossbow Training 2 should absolutely star Linkle. It would outsell every Super Mario game, guaranteed.
In fact, clear out the rest of the launch schedule, all the Switch 2 needs is Link’s Crossbow Training. There is no point in even releasing any other launch titles, they’ll simply crowd the aura of Linkle’s Crossbow Training 2. There is no doubt this is precisely what the Switch 2 needs.

What about you? How excited for a Link’s Crossbow Training sequel are you? On a scale from 8 to 10, how much do you love Linkle? Let us know in the comments below!
