The Pokémon Presents this morning featured a lot of fun announcements. For main-line Pokémon fans, the biggest reveal was likely Mega Dragonite. Players have been desperate for new mega Pokémon since they were announced in Pokémon X and Y, and there have been a lot of creatives who have tried their hand at designing potential new Mega Pokémon.
Mega Dragonite is a fun new form that combines aspects of Dragonite’s normal look with some of the grace and beauty of its prior form, Dragonair. The trailer for Pokémon Legends Z-A stated as much, “Mega Dragonite is a newly discovered Mega-Evolved Pokémon with distinctive Dragonair-like features, including wings on its head and a pearl on its tail.”
The trailer also revealed some more information on the story and mechanics of the upcoming game. It looks like players will be working to help keep Lumiose City safe, and one of the issues cropping up is Mega Evolution in the wild!
The trailer ended with a release date: October 16, 2025. Pokémon Legends Z-A will be releasing digitally and in stores. Nintendo has also announced they will be selling a Switch 2 bundled with the game.
