In their latest “This Week in Destiny” blog post, Bungie detailed how they would be updating the Portal with new content and activities in week 2 of Destiny 2‘s Season: Reclamation, which begins July 29.

Now that the excitement of the Raid and The Edge of Fate‘s campaign is over for most players, Guardians can now take on new challenges in the Portal, with refreshed rewards, Seasonal Hub updates, and two new Onslaught missions—taking place in Midtown and Widow’s Court—available in Fireteam Ops. Suros foundry weapons are also Overcharged this week for those looking to min-max their builds for harder endgame challenges and content.
Guardians also will be able to try out the new Crucible mode called Cutting Edge, a mode that requires Guardians to equip Featured Gear. Cutting Edge will introduce a different meta from the other modes, encouraging Guardians to experiment more with builds and loadouts. This mode also offers unique Crucible weapons, including a new solar rocket sidearm.
Bungie seems to have plenty more content planned throughout this season and beyond. Arms Week begins this week, along with The Coil being added to Fireteam Ops. August kicks off the Solstice event and Grandmaster matchmaking for Fireteam Ops, followed by the return of Heavy Metal on September 2 and the Ash & Iron update—with a new dungeon and a new season—on September 9.
As for the Portal itself, Bungie is fixing the desaturated World tab in a future update based on player feedback. They acknowledged that they overcorrected the Portal’s visuals after players had trouble distinguishing where to find core game activities. Moving forward, the Portal will remain a quick-select menu for core activities, while the World tab will focus on encouraging exploration.
It’s great to see the content roadmap clearly laid out, giving Guardians a better sense of when and how to engage with the game based on their playstyle. It’s also encouraging that Bungie continues to adjust their new systems quickly based on player feedback. The Edge of Fate’s foundation is shaping up well in Season: Reclamation—now let’s see if Bungie can keep the momentum going.
