Since completing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, I personally have been waiting for new information about the next 3D adventure in the series. It is always an interesting time when we don’t know really any details on a future title, but tidbits and rumors of what is to come always seem to surface to make some welcome speculation and banter around the whispers. Could a new rumor be on the horizon?
Recently we have been hearing rumors of some elements that could be included in a future The Legend of Zelda game. On the Xbox Era podcast Shpeshal Nick (Nick Baker) brought to light some rumored leaks about potential upcoming information of a new 3D The Legend of Zelda project. We don’t know who his source was, but we got some interesting information that could
He mentioned cross-dimensional game play. He said that the puzzles would cross over somehow, where if you do something in one area this would directly affect the other area. Maybe you push a rock or something in one area, and it opens a door area in the other area. The game will still use the Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom engine with significant improvements. I am bringing this up because I wrote a few news pieces awhile back that seem relevant or related to what we are hearing.
Both news pieces are patents from Nintendo. The first one was patented by Takahiro Okuda of Nintendo who has patented for Mario Kart and The Legend of Zelda in the past. If you read the article, you will see similarities, mainly that if you complete some goal with an object and it meets the criteria it will start an event, which could translate to many things but seems to be related to what we are hearing. The second article talks about another patent and discusses calculated spatial sound which at first glance seems to be unrelated, but some of the pictures included show a person pulling a rock with the backdrop of trees and mountains. Tasks that can be utilized in puzzles. I think we are seeing a glimpse of what may come in a future The Legend of Zelda game. Hopefully we will hear and see the game soon.
Do you think the rumors that have been shared are true? What do you think the new The Legend of Zelda game will be like? Are you hoping for a change to the formula or do you want more of the same? Either way I cannot personally wait for more information. Let us know your thoughts on the topic.
