Resident Evil Requiem‘s director, Koshi Nakanishi, took to social media on Tuesday, with a special message concerning updates coming to the smash hit survival horror title.
First, Nakanishi states that a photo mode will be arriving in the near future, allowing gamers to capture the grotesque monsters and copious amounts of gore in beautiful photos to their bleeding heart’s content.
Secondly, a new mini game is planned to release in around May. No further details about the mini game are shared, however the franchise has been known to include a wide variety of extra features, such as shooting galleries, survival missions, and the wildly popular “mercenaries” mode.
Lastly, and probably the biggest news for fans, is that a story expansion is now in development. Nakanishi claims that this will delve even deeper into the lore established in Requiem, but clarifies that it will take some time for this additional content to be completed, so fans will need to wait awhile until further news is available.
Resident Evil Requiem released on February 27, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows PC. The game has already surpassed 5 million copies sold, and is the fastest selling game in the franchise. Requiem is the ninth main entry in the series, though this number doesn’t include significant entries such as Code: Veronica, Resident Evil 0, and various remakes of classic titles.
