Boss Rush Diaries: PAX East 2026, Day Four

It is the Dawn of the Final Day. The Expo Hall is much quieter, and the majority of people that roamed the PAX East floor are exhausted; however, it did not stop the Boss Rush Network team from making the best of it. Below are our final summaries of this conference, but we still have PLENTY of coverage on games we discovered and interviews we conducted. Please keep an eye out for those.

Brendan – Writer

The fourth and final day of PAX was short and a tad bittersweet; most of the Boss Rush Network team only had a few hours to roam around before beginning our respective journeys home. Steph and I started out by playing a round of the upcoming asymmetrical horror game, Halloween. Despite neither of us having a great idea of what we were doing, we managed to sneak out a win which was fun; I’m curious if this title will have any chance at dethroning the long-running Dead by Daylight

Outside of that, we did some final scoping out of the merch booths, and I managed to get a selfie with some of the devs from C#4R4CT3R, which I was greatly excited about as I had forgotten to get one the day before. Overall, PAX East was a great time, and it flew by even faster than I had expected. I hope to return next year and continue to build on the numerous relationships I was able to foster on my first run through.

The final day at PAX East went by fast.  I decided to hit up some of the PAX Rising games that I didn’t get to check out the first time.  Jigrift is a 3D platformer where you have to put the land back together again.  Each piece of the land looks like a puzzle piece and by connecting them, it gives you access to different areas that you couldn’t reach before.

I also played Gnaw which is a metroidvania where you play as a raptor that has been thrown into a situation where he now has to save the world.  Finally I tried out Mold Washer.  You play as a piece of sushi that goes around and cleans.  Imagine Powerwash Simulator, but isometric.  After that, I went around and said my goodbyes and headed off to the airport.  This PAX East went by fast and I’m going to miss all my friends, new and old.  Until next time at PAX East 2027!

Courtney – Social Media Director

As Day four comes to a close, I just want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who makes this event what it is. From developers and enforcers to security, streamers, and the many teams working behind the scenes—your effort and coordination are what continue to make PAX East such a standout experience year after year.

Today was a slower, more reflective day. I spent most of my time walking the floor, saying my goodbyes, and taking in those final moments before everything wraps up. There’s always a bittersweet feeling that comes with the end of a convention. But at the same time, coming back each year and reconnecting with this community makes it feel like you never really left in the first place. Until 2027 comes, I will see you “tomorrow”.

The final day is upon us, and most of the team has headed back home to adulthood. Before all of that, we all had one final breakfast and our last picture together before PAX East opened for the day. For me, I got an interview with Game Over Productions about the debut game, Lucha Loka, which is steeped in Mexican culture with a beat ’em up twist. It was a short demo, but the fun interview made me look forward to the game as it’s still in development.

I also got to check out Bylina, but due to bug issues in my personal demo time, I didn’t get to play it all, and sadly, I had to move on. What I played was good, and if it wasn’t for the bugs, I would have enjoyed it a bit more. The controls felt responsive and tight, and the frame rate was steady. It just kept freezing, and I had to leave for my next appointment.

I got to check out CRKD about some of their accessories and their Gibson guitars for the game, Stage Tour, that is in development. The attendees who have played it have given great feedback, and it’s being developed by Red Octane, who made Guitar Hero. It was great to touch the accessories. The Gibson guitar controllers look amazing, also. At this time, it’s only for PC.

I also visited Rain98, Fishbowl, Royalty: Free-For-All, and some other indies. My last appointment, though, was with Geek Therapeutics, where they interviewed me about Boss Rush Network and what it was like to be a content creator. I was excited for the interview and was prepared to answer the host’s questions. We also had a ball of fun with laughs and insight. We really connected on a lot of things and on what we do when it comes to making content. I cannot wait for it to go live sometime in the future.

With some last-minute pictures and final goodbyes, Courty and I made it back to the hotel for dinner and rest before we head out on Monday. Truly, Boston, you’ve been awesome to us. To all our friends, viewers, and community, thank you so much for the support. To all the developers we interviewed and spoke to for fun, thank you for the games you are making and for being open and passionate about your games. To Jeremy at Limited Run Games, thank you for the support and the interview, because it means so much to me. Last but not least, to my Boss Rush PAX East team, Stephanie, Pat, Courty, and Brendan, thank you for all the laughs, hard work, discussions, and acceptance, and for allowing me to be here with you all as a team. You’re all family to me, and I’m grateful for this experience.

To a successful PAX East 2026, and I hope to see more of these moments and spend them with you all. Signing off, WOOHOO!!

The final day of PAX East was a truncated one, unfortunately; however, I did my best with the final hours I had. I spent the morning ambling through the Expo Hall with Brendan, and as he mentioned above, I tried out Halloween (I didn’t die!), scoured for last-minute merch, and made my good-byes.

While I was over-exhausted from the work I did since Thursday, I couldn’t be happier. I reconnected with old friends, made new connections, and stumbled upon indie gems that I look forward to. That’s the thing about conventions like these — you never know what to expect.

I am deeply honored to work alongside my colleagues: Brendan, Pat, Courtney, and Ed. Correction. My dear friends. I am also honored to meet the passionate souls behind these games such as Hunter and Sean of The Secret of Weepstone (who we bumped into again at Jimmy Johns) and Brian Clarke of Paranormal Activity: Threshold (thank you for signing a copy of The Mortuary Assistant!).

The person on the left is wearing a red and white jacket, followed by a casual gray sweater, then a woman in a red Nintendo shirt making a peace sign, and finally a man in a gray t-shirt. The atmosphere is lively with other attendees visible in the background.

While I left exhausted, I have renewed energy to keep this gaming community together by doing my part, which is to report on all things gaming and keep the discussion alive. Cheers!
