ICYMI: Persona 5 Is Leaving PS Plus Collection

Following the announcement of the April 2022 PlayStation Plus games, PlayStation Blog informed gamers that Persona 5 would be exiting the PlayStation Plus collection on May 11, 2022. Today (May 10, 2022) is your last chance to add Persona 5 to your gaming library.

The PlayStation Plus Collection is a perk for PS5 owners who are also PlayStation Plus subscribers. The Collection features a series of titles (twenty in total) from PlayStation 4 including many Sony first-party games such as God of War, The Last of Us Remastered, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End along with third-party titles such as Monster Hunter World, Final Fantasy XV, and Fallout 4. The PlayStation Plus Collection, which launched with the PlayStation 5, hasn’t seen any changes in the offered titles since its inception.

Persona 5 is the first game ever to leave the service. As of this writing, there’s been no word from Sony on why the game is being pulled from the Collection.

Sony is currently working towards the launch of the revamped PlayStation Plus service. The new PlayStation Plus will be a combination of the PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscription services into a new rebranding. When it launches for PS4 and PS5 this coming June, the service will be structured across three payment tiers: Essentials, Extra and Premium.

If you already have Persona 5 in your library, you’ll still be able to play it as long as you have an active PS Plus subscription. Persona 5 Royal, while not part of the PS Plus Collection, is an enhanced and expanded version of the game that outshines the original release and makes it redundant. We’d recommend the PlayStation Plus Collection’s base game offering if you want to experience Persona 5 in any capacity and you’re already subscribed to PS Plus.

Do you already have Persona 5 in your PlayStation Plus library? Are you planning to play Persona 5 on PlayStation or will you get Persona 5 Royal instead? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

  1. […] The PlayStation Plus Collection launched alongside the PlayStation 5 in 2020, putting the service in competition with Xbox’s Game Pass. The collection didn’t see much change throughout its time except for Sony removing Persona 5 from the original lineup last year. […]
