The PlayStation Plus Collection will no longer be available in the coming months.
Sony recently announced it will discontinue the collection — a perk available to all PlayStation Plus subscribers —on May 9. This collection included 19 first- and third-party games from the PlayStation 4 that subscribers could download and play through their subscription.
While the changes will impact the collection, Sony states it will not affect other PS Plus benefits such as monthly games and the game catalog.
Subscribers can download the games prior to the May 9 deadline and can still play them on their systems after the deadline as long as they have an active subscription.
Sony did not offer any reasons for the discontinuation but it did state it will continue growing its game catalog and monthly game offerings.
The games that will leave the service on May 9 include:
- Batman: Arkham Knight
- Battlefield 1
- Bloodborne
- Call of Duty: Black Ops III
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
- Days Gone
- Detroit: Become Human
- Fallout 4
- Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition
- God of War
- Infamous Second Son
- Monster Hunter World
- Mortal Kombat X
- Ratchet & Clank
- The Last Guardian
- The Last of Us Remastered
- Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
- Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
- Until Dawn
While Sony is removing these titles in the coming months, it did announce the February monthly games, which will be available on Feb. 7. Those games include Evil Dead: The Game, OlliOlliWorld, Destiny 2: Beyond Light, and Mafia: The Definitive Edition.
The PlayStation Plus Collection launched alongside the PlayStation 5 in 2020, putting the service in competition with Xbox’s Game Pass. The collection didn’t see much change throughout its time except for Sony removing Persona 5 from the original lineup last year.
PlayStation Plus offers three tiers for its service: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Each tier received the PS Plus Collection with the Extra and Premium tiers offering more games through additional catalogs. The tiers have received mixed reviews.
