Nintendo has been making games since the early 70’s with Game and Watch and continues to run strong until today with their current Switch console. We’ve seen so many wonderful IPs (intellectual properties) such as Super Mario, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and Animal Crossing do well over the years and some of them have even made appearances in three separate decades. However, there’s some beloved IPs that have taken a backseat over the years that could use a little love in current day gaming. Let’s take a look at a couple of franchises that could use some love.
Starfox

This one seems like an easy one to pass the baton to. Star Fox and Star Fox 64 were some of the most beloved games on their respective consoles. When Nintendo released their NSO+ which includes Nintendo 64 games, the internet was very excited to play Star Fox 64 again. I would love to see a studio that has fans that grew up with the game take over and give this series a new coat of paint and some love.
F-Zero

Although not as popular as Star Fox, F-Zero has a large cult following that is still begging for a new game even though we haven’t seen a new F-Zero game since 2004. Outside of Captain Falcon being a recurring character in the Super Smash Bros series, Nintendo has seemed to have completely forgotten that F-Zero exists.
Earthbound

Earthbound (Known as Mother in Japan) is a very odd and quirky JRPG that until this day still has a heavy following. Fans have fallen in love with the writing and storytelling of these games, and even the interesting towns and characters. This might be a more difficult IP to take over and still be able to keep the charm and quirkiness up to fan expectations, but it still can be done.
Are there any other IPs you’d like to see revived by another team? Or do you think Nintendo should keep them and make new games themselves? Let us know in the Comments section or tell us all about it on our Boss Rush Discord!
