Boss Rush Banter: Where is Your Favorite Relaxing Spot in Gaming?

It’s Friday, which means the weekend is nigh.

Weekends provide a great chance to kick back and unwind from the past week. It also provides us a chance to regroup for the inescapable week to come.

Often, people like to find a place they can go to unwind. This place can be a bar or a salon. Some people take trips to the mountains while others relax on the beach.

In gaming, these types of places abound. In between saving the world or rescuing a princess, there are always places for non-playable characters and the main character to unwind and relax.

So, which location in gaming is your favorite place to unwind.

My absolute favorite place for a good unwinding is the Goron Springs in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

After a long day of climbing Death Mountain, it can be nice to unwind and relax in the springs. After you get on the Goron’s good side, you can hit up the hot springs to replenish hearts. You also see plenty of other Gorons enjoying the springs.

What could be better than some nice hot springs after a long day? Maybe a day on the ranch?

Chocobo Farm in Final Fantasy VII is a great spot to go. You arrive here shortly after you leave Midgar and it is a welcome spot after the pollution and darkness of the city.

Not only is it a nice escape, but it seems cheery after you were hit with some deep story elements prior to arrival. The music helps add to the relaxation.

In the same vein, Fisherman’s Horizon from Final Fantasy VIII has a similar vibe. This quaint spot sits in the ocean and everyone feels chill. The mayor doesn’t want Squall and company to bring their war to the town because of the peaceful nature.

Speaking of the ocean, Super Mario Sunshine has some gorgeous places to relax. My personal favorite is Sirena Beach complete with a luxury hotel and beautiful beaches.

Say what you will about Super Mario Sunshine, but this game did have some great places to relax.

If you’re a fan of relaxing in nature, then there are some idyllic spots in Breath of the Wild and the two Horizon games. If you’re more of a bar person, then head on over to Seventh Heaven in Final Fantasy VII or the Milk Bar in Majora’s Mask.

Regardless of where you pick, you are sure to find some great spots throughout gaming for your hero to unwind from the stresses of world-saving.

So what about you? What is your favorite relaxing spot in gaming? Where would you love to go to spend a weekend getaway? Let us know in the comments below or by heading over to our Discord channel to join the conversation.
