Boss Rush Banter: Can Loki be the Leader of the Avengers?

Over the last couple of years, phase 4 has been expanding with the new addition of creating TV Shows and introducing the next generation of the Avengers. While the fans have mixed opinions of the MCU’s current state, there are questions about The Multiverse Saga. These include who will be the leader of the Avengers, and how will their story play out?

*Spoilers for MCU Phase 4 and Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania*

Let’s start with the basics, just a friendly reminder to take most of the information with a grain of salt since the MCU could be subject to change.

Who will lead the Avengers?

Shang-Chi Director Destin Daniel Cretton will be directing two Avengers films: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, both set for release in 2025 and 2026, respectively, and to conclude Phase 6. According to a report, it was hinted that Cretton is a big Spider-Man fan and wants him to be the leader of the Avengers.

Now, a lot of fans are split about this revelation. Peter Parker taking leadership for the Avengers would be some amazing character development. Plus, it can mirror Iron Man’s actions in Infinity War and Endgame, like being a leader and sacrificing themselves to beat a big villain. But there’s a possibility that it may not happen for a few reasons, such as the story is subject to change, and from where we’re at currently in MCU Phase 5, Peter Parker could not be a leader.

Now all eyes are pointing at Sam Wilson’s Captain America as the leader and adding Captain Marvel as the co-leader. But, if you think about it, we’ll need all the brains and strength that we can get to beat Kang. Kang is the toughest, most threatening villain to date; some say he’s worst than Thanos.

What if we tell you we do not need just one leader? Why not have Spider-Man lead the Young Avengers (America Chavez, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, Yelena) while Sam’s Captain America leads the veterans (Hulk, Hawkeye, War Machine, Winter Soldier, Thor). This idea would be possible since Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars will be split into multiple stories since different groups will be separated, just like in Infinity War and Endgame.

Who is the main character of the Mulitiverse Saga?

This has been a big question since the start of Phase 4, who is the main character in The Multiverse Saga? In the Infinity War Saga, Iron Man is the main character. However, since the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, There has been a debate about who is the main character in the Multiverse Saga. So far, we narrowed it down to two characters, Ant-Man and Loki, since they know how the multiverse works, as well as Kang.

After going back and forth between TV shows and movies and what we know so far about the MCU’s current state, Loki is The Multiverse Saga’s main character. Why? Loki knows what’s going on with multiverses, He is motivated to stop Kang, and in Loki season 2, he will investigate this situation further.

Now we have a prediction of what could happen in Loki season 2. Loki can figure out Kang’s plans while the TVA is being destroyed. So Loki would have a choice but to go to Earth and ask for help. It could bring in a lot of tension between the current heroes of Phase 5, especially Nick Fury and Thor. You can imagine the interactions Loki will have with everybody.

Who will be the one sacrificing themselves to beat Kang?

Loki. Need we say more as to why he would? As mentioned earlier, we don’t believe Spider-Man could be the one sacrificing. Peter Parker’s Spider-Man has many stories to tell, and if Marvel closes the chapter for Spider-Man, it will feel like a big loss.

So if Loki sacrifices himself, this Multiverse Saga could be his redemption arc. If you watch the first episode of Loki, during an interaction with Mobius, Loki confesses that he had no intention to kill people. His story is heartbreaking for multiple reasons, as seen in the first Thor movie. First, Loki had a lot of resentment toward his brother Thor but mostly his father, Odin, because he’s adopted, which causes him to be a villain in the first Avengers movie.

As Loki reflects more on his past and realizes he can make a big change, this could be his chance to redeem himself and still be the hero. Of course, it will take much convincing for the Avengers to be on board, but Loki being the lead could work.

  1. Tom Hiddleston is one of the most enthusiastic remaining actors, and Loki is one of the most developed characters left. Putting Hiddleston into some kind of central role would be a sound idea.
