Boss Rush Banter: Monster Hunter Wilds Needs to Release on the Switch 2

Millions are eating well with the recent launch of Monster Hunter Wilds, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Capcom recently confirmed that they sold eight million copies within the first three days of launch, and it’s sitting high at 90 on Metacritic. With the supposed technological advancements of the Nintendo Switch 2 and the previous partnership with Monster Hunter Rise, I feel that Monster Hunter Wilds needs to be ported to the Switch 2.

In 2021, Capcom released Monster Hunter Rise for the Nintendo Switch first. This mainline title achieved an 88 on Metacritic and was well-received. I was honestly surprised the Switch could handle a Monster Hunter game, but I appreciated this third-party support and exposure to new players. Knowing Monster Hunter Wilds continues to be friendly to both hard core fans and newbies alike.

It would behoove Capcom to continue supporting Nintendo by porting Monster Hunter Wilds for the Switch 2, knowing that the console will be more powerful. An interview by Game Reactor with producer Ryozo Tsujimoto gives me hope:

“Of course, in relation to the Monster Hunter Wilds platforms we have nothing extra to announce beyond what is already knownBut we’re also a little bit in the same position as everyone else with the Switch 2 — it’s such a new announcement, and we’d need to take our time in the near future to know exactly the nature of the hardware and how we’re going to best use it, and that’s something that’s going to be in the future for us.” -Game Reactor

Everyone wins if there’s access for Monster Hunter Wilds across all platforms. It will also solidify the newer fan base that found a love for the franchise with Rise on the Switch–especially since not everyone can afford a high-powered PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series. The Nintendo Switch is an affordable device and continued third-party support would only be a plus for Nintendo and Capcom.

What do you think? Should Monster Hunter Wilds be ported to the Switch 2 when it becomes available? Please share your thoughts with us on our Boss Rush Facebook Group or our Boss Rush Discord
