5 Dimension 20 Quotes to Deal with Life

If you’re going through hell, keep going, and if you’re looking for quotes from your favorite live action table top RPG series to deal with the stress of the times, enjoy the list below, but if you’re seeking the profound, take a gander at 5 Brennan Lee Mulligan Quotes That Will Make You Question Life and Top 5 Profound Dimension 20 Player Quotes.

5. “…ideals and flaws don’t live on a page. They live in your actions and deeds.” Brennan Lee Mulligan (Tiny Heist)

Many Dimension 20 fans haven’t watched Tiny Heist, and if you’re among them, I’d highly recommend putting it on your To Be Watched list. It can feel nearly impossible to accomplish much of anything when you’re a little guy in world where the powerful seem determined to squash you beneath their heel, or sometimes even worse, seem completely unaware you exist or apathetic to how their actions will harm you because they see your needs as less important than their wants.

Though Brennan’s words came as a quick response to a joke about a character sheet, they hold true. Who you are, all the good and bad, doesn’t exist as abstract words written in a tagline on your resume or social media page. They are real truths that live in your actions and deeds, rippling out into the world and affecting all those around you.

Quote by Brené Brown (Image Credit: Stencil)

The Protestant Reformation began with a single protesting treatise being nailed to a door and led to numerous wars, and the members now make up a quarter of all Christians now with additional sects forming within the group. A small change can give rise to huge effect. Multiple small cumulative changes can form a chain of action that grows.

4. “There is no pirate who can see the horizon through a squall; doesn’t mean it isn’t there.” – Cathilda Ceíli (Fantasy High: Sophomore Year)

Cathilda, also known as Cathilda the Black, supported Bill Seacaster as a fearsome pirate and later became an elder of The Ramble, but playing the role of maid, she helped raise Fabian, offering him comfort and advice especially in the second season of Fantasy High. While her epic threats of turning a captain’s face into calamari and feeding it to him might be more well-circled on the internet, this solemn line underlines that regardless of the fierceness of the storm, someday, it will end, and whatever darkness you may be going through will have its ending.

A more famous quote often assigned to Winston Churchill, though no record confirms he ever said it, “If you’re going through Hell, keep going,” suggests bad times to be similarly finite, but I believe Cathilda’s line holds a bit more hope as good remains even if we cannot see it, and trusting and guiding ourselves forward toward that good bring that horizon closer for more than just ourselves.

3. “Everyone who told you they would keep you safe you as long as you behaved were already hurting you.” – La Bête (Neverafter)

People who will only promise safety if you obey have no intention of truly keeping you safe. They want you under control. They want you fearful of what you could face if you even so much as toed the line, and fear to simply exist is a constant hurt wearing on a person day in and out.

For many LGBTQIA+ youths, this is incredibly visible. Threats of homelessness, conversion camps, and other forms of abuse and neglect are far more prevalent for them. Those in the LGBTQIA+ community are 120% more likely to face homelessness according to the University of Chicago. A study by the UK charitable organization, Just Like Us, found that nearly half of LGBTQIA+ adults are estranged from at least one family member, and a third are ‘not confident’ that their parents or guardians would accept them.

Blind obedience isn’t security. It is merely servitude. As La Bête also told Ylfa, “It is never wrong to tell the truth about what you are.”

2. “Risk is inevitable in the lives of those that seek to do great works upon the face of the world.” – Goldenhoard (Fantasy High)

Life is full of risks. The quote has a heavy and slightly ominous intonation in that change cannot come without danger and sacrifice, which can be a weighty prospect that keeps many from trying; however, having the villain in disguise say this line adds an extra dimension. No matter whether you’re on the side of good or evil, or the sides you face are less diametric, there is risk to changing the world.

If someone is trying to change the world for the worse, being someone who tries to keep it better or change it for the even better means that you are the risk. For example, if a person’s wealth is a theoretical based on the value assigned to a publicly traded asset, that asset losing value and the loss of your financial status is a risk that person takes when trying to change the world.

Or in Goldenhoard’s case, he thought he understood and plotted out all the risks, but he never expected a group of freshmen to outmaneuver him or Bill Seacaster to flay his spirit in Hell and turn him into a living ship.

1. “‘It is what it is’ is a fucking terrible fucking theme! It’s garbage. Do you know how it feels to sit there in your room and say, ‘it is what it is’? That never took someone from fucking nowhere to somewhere better…It is what it could be.” – Sofia Lee (The Unsleeping City)

Accepting the world as it is can be helpful when facing the daily frustrations of everyday life, but when facing a wider and more harrowing reality, there is a daunting line between acceptance and surrender.

Sofia Lee recognizes and rejects this, throwing it aside to fight for what could be. Without a belief that change is possible, it cannot happen. This is especially true in a world designed after the American Dream. Hope of what-could-be has people buying lottery tickets, imagining what they’d do if they suddenly became millionaires or billionaires. It inspires artists onto Etsy and performers onto TikTok, Twitch, and YouTube as they imagine making it big through small business or drawing in an audience despite the odds.

The world is what it could be, so what are you going to do about it?
