The Nintendo Switch 2 has been out for well over a month now and as a first day adaptor I am impressed with some of the improvements the system has, especially because I was a day one Nintendo Switch owner and still own it. Though I have enjoyed the games, updated graphics, and loading times, I have yet to be impressed with the basic user interface of the main screen.
When the Nintendo Switch Dropped on March 3rd, 2017, I truly enjoyed the simple take that they rolled out with, fully expecting big updates as we went on through its life. We received things like ways to organize games and even Bluetooth connection for headphones over the course of its life cycle. These were much needed updates, but they still lacking features even from previous systems like Wii U and 3DS.
If you remember we had folders on Wii U and 3DS that were great. You could easily drag and drop games into the folders you wanted, and the ease of use was refreshing. Different channels that were present allowed people to do different activities like keep track of sports, draw, create characters, Netflix, etc. but it seems like we have a reduced experience when it comes to these types of additional features that have carried over to Switch 2.
When I saw a few years back Nintendo had a job posting for a software engineer that specialized in user interface I suspected that they were looking for someone to create it for Switch 2. Looking at it, it just seems like a slightly updated version of Switch. Yes, we have improvements and better eshop features, but where is the rest? We still only have white and black backgrounds, the layout seems identical, and I was hoping for a file or folder system. Will we get services like Netflix or Hulu again? Where is the customization or added Nintendo Music app? Fans are eager for something new and exciting even if it’s wallpaper for the background of the Switch 2 screen.
How do you feel about the features that Nintendo Switch 2 currently have available? What would you like to see for yourself on the home menu? Were there features on a past system that you want to be reintroduced for Switch 2? What do you enjoy currently about the new Switch 2? Let us know your thoughts on this topic.
