A Nintendo Direct debuted earlier today, Friday, September 12th bright and early at 9 A.M. EST. Gamers have been eagerly awaiting for a proper Direct after several other showcases: a Kirby Air Riders Direct and Indie Direct Showcase in August, and a Partner Direct in late July. Despite the Switch 2 launch in June, we’ve seen only a trickle of first-party game releases and news.
One rumor that has been circulating prior to this Direct that Resident Evil 9: Requiem and other Resident Evil games will make its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. And this rumor has been confirmed as one of the final trailers of this hour-long event. Resident Evil: Requiem will release alongside the other platforms on 2/27/2026. It wasn’t just an announcement either, we got another brand-new trailer to sink our teeth into and analyze–we see a mysterious, decrepit figure, a massive monster, and the Umbrella symbol.
In addition, the Gold Editions of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 8 will arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27th as well.
