Boss Rush Diaries: PAX East 2026, Day Two

It is day two at PAX East 2026, and it’s just warming up! Follow the Boss Rush Network team as we continue to play fantastic demos, bring the latest indie game news, and mingle with who’s who in the gaming industry.

Brendan – Writer

PAX Day 2 was a lot of fun. I spent time chasing all sorts of demos around. The largest of which was the new Backyard Baseball which was overall a blast to play through. I took a timeless selfie with Pablo Sanchez, and honestly, I’m nearly entirely sold on the Backyard reboot at this point. Outside of that, I wrapped up writing my interview with Yangyang Mobile which was incredibly fulfilling and I’m genuinely excited for more people to learn about High Times, their latest project.

It has been such a pleasure to speak with so many indie developers at PAX East and I can’t wait to continue having genuine and insightful conversations as the event goes on.

Pat – Chief Gaming Officer

I got to play two of my most anticipated games today: Fishbowl and Grave SeasonsFishbowl follows a character who recently lost her grandmother and is dealing with grief.  It comes out April 2nd.  I love games that bring the feels.  Grave Seasons is the complete opposite of that.  It’s a farming sim that is also a supernatural murder mystery.  The demo was short, but we got to see the cozy farming side, as well as the darker investigations.  I don’t think this will be a game people will want to miss.  Other than that, I got to hang out with some friends I made at PAX East last year and they crowned me with the crown of the “Trash King”.  I was honored.

Courtney – Social Media Director

Reading what Pat wrote about Fishbowl really stuck with me. Despite its bright, colorful presentation, the game carries a surprisingly heavy emotional weight. It’s the kind of experience that can catch you off guard—and honestly, it might make you cry the way it made me cry.

Going into the rest of the day, I had a plan: spend more time with demos and lock in a few interviews. However, PAX has a way of pulling you in different directions, and I found myself sidetracked once again—this time by spending more money than I intended. . . Again

Magic: The Gathering has completely captured my attention on the show floor, and resisting it has been… difficult, to say the least. At this point, I may need to set some boundaries before the weekend is over. Any advice is welcomed!

PAX East 2026 day two wasn’t just emotional and insightful, but it was very heartwarming and educational for me. Starting with a mighty and delicious breakfast, the team was preparing for another eventful day of demos, interviews, and karaoke. Oh, yes, we had a lovely night of singing, pictures, networking, and beverages.

I started my interview by playing Team Crescendo’s Memories Wake. An action-adventure soulslike that puts you in a dream state that you need to figure out how to escape. It’s a must-have when the game is finished, and if you love Death’s Door and Tunic, this game will be right up your alley.

I also got to talk about Sucker For Love Crushed with one of the developers, Joseph. We talked about anime, horror, what inspired this game, and how to work in comedy while still making the horror aspect work. Oh, it was a ball full of nerding out, laughs, and our love for Japan. I also got to talk to the developer of Horripilant, Alex Declos. We talk horror and point-and-click game play working with RPG elements of the game, and how the development of the game was not only educational, but how feedback, trust, and believing in yourself can help you achieve making a game.

After having lunch with Courty, I went to check out RECLAIM!! Ahze-giiwewining. A point-and-click adventure with Objiwe language and cultural educational game that has beautiful animation and gorgeous music. It’s a must-have game, and we need more Native American games in this gaming space. I talked with the creator and developer, and it was such a lovely conversation to have. IT NEEDS TO BE IN AN INDIE WORLD DIRECT IN THE FUTURE.

I also got to talk to some of the co-founders of Heartloop Games about the fighting game, Poly Fighter. It’s a roguelike fighting game where you earn special moves to fight in combat. It’s an intriguing and fun game that is fun and something that the fighting community should play! I was into it and will keep this on my wish list on Steam.

Lastly, I got to talk to producer Masura Saito about Brigandine Abyss, a new entry in the Brigandine franchise and an awesome tactical strategy RPG. He is a truly amazing guy to talk to, along with interpreter Sean. I didn’t get to finish the demo, but it’s a game our Bossman, Corey, will love and dig into. I can’t wait to get my copy and learn all the mechanics and gameplay to defeat the opponents that I will encounter.

We ended the night with karaoke, talking to Nick Apostolides, and rocking out with the Warframe community. It was a night with great food, drinks, singing, and just hanging out with the Boss Rush Network crew while meeting some awesome people. I didn’t get to sing, but all is well. Next time. I am excited for Day three because I have a lot of interviews and games to play. Also, Greysun and his partner came, and I was so happy to see him and introduce them to the Boss Rush Crew.

Steph – VP of Media Relations, Copy Editor

This morning started off slow— just as I intended. I meandered across the Expo Hall and speaking with passionate developers. I spent time with Astro Crow, the devs behind the arcade exclusive, Throwback! Jai-Alai Heroes (write-up to follow soon). They shared their passion of bringing gamers of all ages out of their homes and into their “third space” to create memories and have fun. I also touched based with Good Story Guild’s Cat Secretary, who we met last year. I will return to their booth tomorrow to try their latest demo. Lastly, I sat with the CEO behind Ecumene Games’ Ecumene Aztec. It is a ruthless action-adventure game with mythic and fictional history elements based on an Aztec’s journey for revenge. Stay tuned for more coverage.

After all that hard work, I joined the rest of the Boss Rush Network team at the TennoVIP event. I got to mingle with Warframe devs, fans, and voice actors. We ate delicious food and even sang along to karaoke. Although I stayed up way past my bedtime, I thoroughly enjoyed our after-hours team building activity.
