HALO INFINITE: Microsoft Files New Trademark for ‘Halo: The Endless’

The excitement for Halo Infinite‘s release has barely peaked this week, but that hasn’t stopped people from asking what’s next for Master Chief. We may have a small clue at what’s next, however, as Microsoft has filed a new trademark for the franchise, entitled Halo: The Endless.

Now it is to be noted that the word “infinite” is a term synonymous with the word “endless,” but for those who have finished the campaign of Halo Infinite, The Endless may mean a little more than just a few words. Twitter user Aggiornamenti Lumia was among the first to find the trademark, linking to the filing in his tweet below.

My Take

Halo is an expansive universe. There are many stories to tell and I think Microsoft has to start exploring Halo without Master Chief. As iconic as he is, I have felt for a while that Halo has the same issue as Star Wars, a “small galaxy syndrome” if you will. Halo Wars, ODST and Reach stand out because they compliment Chief’s story and the universe. My guess is that The Endless is their title for the expansions coming to Halo Infinite, as 343 Industries has stated that this game will be the platform for the next ten years of Halo. I haven’t finished the campaign just yet, but I am always excited for more adventures in this universe.
