Halo TV Show Trailer Released

Halo has been rumored for the big and small screen for almost two decades now. First revealed as Peter Jackson’s follow up to Lord of the Rings and King Kong to Neil Blomkamp’s District 9 inspired show to even being attached to Steven Spielberg at one point, The Master Chief’s silver screen debut just never made it off the ground. That is, until Paramount Pictures picked up the project. Now, Halo will be released as a premium TV show on Paramount+.

During the NFL Playoff game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Paramount released a powerful trailer for the series starring Pablo Schreiber as John-117, Danny Sapani as Sergeant Johnson, Olive Gray as Miranda Keyes, and Jen Taylor reprising her role as the voice of Cortana, Chief’s AI companion and Dr. Halsey.

Halo | Paramount+ Premiering March 24

Halo as described by Paramount is “an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. Halo will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future.” There are new and familiar faces in the trailer as well as recognizable foes that Chief and his new team of Spartans will face, iconic vehicles, and authentic vehicles and ships. It definitely hit on a lot of things fans of the series will love.

My Take

This show is taking elements from the games to tell its own canonical story instead of being held to tell the same ones over again, which is a good thing. I think not being held to the games’ stories will allow them a lot of freedom to create a more realized world. The mix of familiar and new characters will be interesting to see. Also, Master Chief’s armor looks great. Pablo Schreiber’s take on the character will definitely get some taking used to because Steve Downs gives such an iconic performance, but its definitely one I am looking forward to. Jen Taylor looks to be portraying a younger Catherine Halsey, which is also inspired, but her being back as Cortana (who’s look, I think, is really awesome), is going to be the key to tying this whole series together. This is the most excited I’ve been for a show since Falcon and the Winter Soldier from Disney and Marvel.
