Boss Rush Banter: Can We Expect New Eevee Evolutions Based on Spain Within Pokémon Violet and Scarlet?

Generation 9 for Pokémon will arrive at the end of 2022, and this is always an exciting time because we know new Pokémon will be added to the existing Pokedex. We know that Pokémon Violet and Scarlet will take its influence from the real-world location of Spain. So, knowing this what influences can we expect from this region of the world and how could we incorporate this in new versions of Eevee?

Over the course of the Pokemon franchise we have a total of 8 Eevee type evolutions, which include:

Vaporeon: Water – Red/Blue/Yellow – 1996/1998

Jolteon: Electric – Red/Blue/Yellow – 1996/1998

Flareon: Fire – Red/Blue/Yellow – 1996/1998

Espeon: Psychic – Gold/Silver/Crystal – 1999/2000

Umbreon: Dark – Gold/Silver/Crystal – 1999/2000

Leafeon: Grass – Diamond/Pearl/Platinum – 2006/2008

Glaceon: Ice – Diamond/Pearl/Platinum – 2006/2008

Sylveon: Fariy – X/Y – 2013

As you can see 9 years have passed since we received a new Eevee type evolution. The remaining types to choose from are, normal, flying, fighting, poison, ground, rock, bug, ghost, steel, and dragon. So based on these remaining types available here are some ideas I had based on a few of these types.

The first one I wanted to cover is also one of my favorite types which is normal. Recalling a few art classes I had in college, I remember, of course, famous artists from Spain such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. With this, I believe, a normal type Eevee would be based around an artistic type attribute.

Normal type example names: Creativeon, Decoreon, Surrealeon (Surrealist Paint Style)

Next up Spain has a lot of wine and olive oil and I thought maybe I should pick my poison and stick with the wine theme. So, a poison type Eevee would be an interesting twist if you base it on wine. Though it may be a bit controversial for some, I think it will be an interesting take on a poison type.

Poison type example names: Intoxeon, Inebrieon, and Liquoreon

Last up, one thing that first comes to mind when thinking of Spain is, “The Running of the Bulls.” Such an iconic event, coupled with bull fighting, is an extreme sport that you will not find me participating in. So naturally the last type I’m choosing is fighting.

Fighting type example names: Bullareon, Matadoreon, and Pamploneon (City in Spain Reference)

What Eevee types can you come up with based on Spain? Do you think after 9 years we will finally see a new Eevee evolution? What are your current favorite Eevee evolutions? Will you be purchasing Pokémon Violet or Scarlet when it comes out? Let us know your thoughts.

  1. […] “I hope Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will combine the best of both worlds: traditional Pokémon gameplay and elements from Pokémon Arceus. While I eagerly await the return of gym battles, I hope there will be a plethora of side missions–from researching Pokémon for professors to executing a fun trade sequence. I also hope there are more options for the player; for example, you may need to earn a minimal number of badges, but there are double or triple the amount of gyms you can obtain them from. Finally, I really hope we see new Eevee evolutions (as seen in a recent Boss Rush Banter). […]

  2. […] talk about news wise this week, but we can speculate! Shane asks us if we should expect a couple of new evolutions of Eevee in the new Pokémon? I’m not a Pokémon guy, but I do love me some Eevee […]
