Earlier this week, Boss Rush Network‘s Nintendo Pow Block celebrated its 300th episode. It was an incredible milestone where friends from around the internet get together and discuss all things Nintendo. Never in my life had I imagined being a part of this family.
It all started during the COVID-19 lockdown back in March 2020. As people were ordered to stay home, I looked for ways to pre-occupy myself and cope with the stress. While tending to my “COVID garden”, I also decided to listen to podcasts; however, at the time, I did not know where to start. I was not a murder-mystery fanatic, so I just searched for what I know–Zelda. In addition to discovering Another Zelda Podcast (check them out!), I also stumbled upon Nintendo Pow Block. I instantly fell in love with the excited and enlightened Eddie V and the Snacktendo segment. I’ve also grown to enjoy the playful banter between co-hosts Corey, Dan, David, and later on, Galutrad.
From there, I checked out other podcasts within Boss Rush. The network was a new concept for me, but I appreciated it, as I could find all video game and entertainment content in one ecosystem. Other close favorites were CrossRoads and the EXP Cast, but Nintendo Pow Block had my heart.
One day, Nintendo Pow Block mentioned a call for any writers who would be interested in joining the site. I immediately jumped at the opportunity, although I held some reservation since I wasn’t up to speed in the video game industry. One thing led to another, and soon I was promoted to copy editor and making regular appearances on podcasts within the network. Nothing made me happier.
Jumping back to the present, I now sit here writing and feeling nothing but gratitude. I joined Eddie V and Corey for their Pow Block 300 celebration as a guest, and we hashed through our top 30 video games we’ve played on the Nintendo platform. We laughed, we gasped (a lot), and we reminisced. These two co-hosts made me feel like I was always part of the family, and I got to know even more about them as we discussed out favorite games. Isn’t that what great discussions and video games are meant to do?
