After a leak rocked the internet, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions unveiled the first teaser trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s.
The trailer offers audiences their first glimpse at how the horrific animatronics from the popular survival horror computer game will be brought to life.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is based on Scott Cawthon’s video game franchise, which debuted in 2014 and swiftly soared to great fame. Throughout the games, players must survive an assault of aggressive animatronic creatures within the haunted Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza Restaurant, surveying the area with security cameras, lights, and doors.
The new teaser opens with a retro video showing wholesome images of kids running merrily around the restaurant. It soon takes a turn for the scary when a security guard, played by Josh Hutcherson, realizes he might not make it to dawn in one piece.
Earlier this year, Universal revealed that Five Nights at Freddy’s would be released on streaming service Peacock on the same day as its theatrical release, following in the footsteps of Blumhouse films like Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is directed by Emma Tammi and stars Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Matthew Lillard, as well as animatronic designs and technology by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
