Boss Rush Banter: Which Superhero Still Needs a Video Game?

With the recent announcement of Cliffhanger Studio’s project on a Black Panther video game, I was thrilled to bits. The Black Panther is one of my personal favorite superheroes in the Marvel Universe, along with the Guardians of the Galaxy. While cross-overs from comics/movies to video games are common, there are still some amazing characters that have yet to debut in their own game. Which superhero still needs a video game?

For me, I’m team Shang-Chi. Although not as well-known as Captain America or Thor, his comic book debut extends way back to December 1973 in Special Marvel Edition #15. He was created as a talented martial artist, and of course, eventually acquires the power of the Ten Rings weapons. Simu Liu (a personal favorite actor of mine) plays this hero in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, finally joining the Marvel Cinematic universe in 2021.

A Shang-Chi video game would not only champion diversity in the industry, but it also would invite martial arts into gameplay. Martial arts leaves lots of room for creativity, such as different stances and combos (another martial arts game, Sifu, released in 2022 by Sloclap, and received high marks). I can easily envision this as a 2D or 3D action-adventure title, and of course, other Marvel characters could also make their debut if Marvel wanted.

How about you? What superhero needs a video game or perhaps needs a remake of an older game? Please share your thoughts with us on our Boss Rush Facebook Group or our Boss Rush Discord.

  1. A Shang Chi game would be amazing. My answer was going to be Hellboy, but writing this comment prompted me to find out that a Hellboy game is on the way! It looks amazing (even though it is apparently a rogue like). Hopefully it will have some detective work or puzzle solving along with the monster bashing.
