It’s only 10 A.M. EST on January 1st, 2024, and I’m already bombarded with weight loss and “healthy eating” advertisements and social medial posts. While getting fit is an honorable New Year’s resolution, we all know that most people abandon it (and any resolution for that matter) within weeks; however, that doesn’t mean we still shouldn’t make them–especially if they are fun! So, what are your 2024 gaming related New Year’s resolutions?
I was inspired by my close friend and Boss Rush colleague, Pat. His 2023 goal was to play 40 video games. He chronicled them throughout the year, and last time I checked, he surpassed his goal with a whopping 47 video games! Although I may not be able to achieve a goal like that, it did prompt me to challenge myself for 2024.
- Beat at least one video game per month
Ok, this is an easy one because I am part of the Boss Rush Book Club; however, in order to stay motivated, you got to add in some freebies to boost your motivation!
2. Knock at least six games from my backlog, in addition to goal #1
2023 was a banger year, which significantly added to my backlog. Since 2024 is looking to be much lighter for me, I want to take advantage and give some video games much needed TLC. Games I’m eyeing on my backlog include Live A Live, Crime Boss: Rockay City, Resident Evil: Village, Shadows Over Loathing, Red Dead Redemption on Switch, Starfield, and Viewfinder.
3. Attend PAX East 2024 and find more games to share with the world!
PAX 2023 was the first year I attended as press and boy did I learn a lot. It was quite overwhelming; however, I interviewed some amazing developers and publishers. This venue is a wealth of creativity and opportunity, especially for the indie space. With lessons learned from last year, I hope to make more effective use of my time at PAX East 2024.
