The Campaign

The latest campaign module for Free League’s ALIEN RPG, Building Better Worlds, is currently available. It gives you tools (and expeditions) to run a full open-world campaign as a pioneering explorer or colonist.

The game’s core rulebook is required to play.

Further Thoughts

ALIEN RPG is divided into two styles of play, cinematic and campaign. Cinematic presents tight, film-like adventures. Campaign play presents sandbox-style, open-world (open-galaxy) style adventures that let the players explore at will. This campaign significantly increases the options for campaign players, giving GMs and players a unique structure and backbone.

It’s very easy to imagine a long-term survival campaign taking shape, where xenomorphs are only one more threat alongside resource management, base building peril, and anything else lurking in deep space from non-xenomorphic aliens to previous expeditions that have turned to piracy. There’s significant potential.
