As a big fan of squad-based shooters, I knew I had to check out Pizza Bandit at PAX West.
The premise of the game is that “you embody a pizza restaurateur who returns to his old bounty-hunting gigs, determined to sustain his failing pizza shop.” The game is as hilarious and fun as it sounds.
Developed and Published (soon) by Jofsoft, Pizza Bandit‘s 6-person team is mostly based in South Korea, though it has one member in Seattle, Washington.
Inspiration for Pizza Bandit
Executive Producer Aron Koh describes Pizza Bandit as a mix between Overcooked and Gears of War. Koh also mentioned that the team played a lot of Aliens: Fireteam Elite as they were programming Pizza Bandit, and this definitely felt true for me, particularly around kit and loadout customization, which reminded me so much of what Cold Iron Studios brought to AFE.
Koh explained that the team initially started in the field with their first game Rift Sweepers. They noticed that gamers, particularly among Western countries, really enjoyed the comedic elements of gameplay. He said that players particularly loved the pizza elements and the team decided to build a whole game around that mechanic.

Demo Experience Reflections
I had a lot of fun playing Pizza Bandit. I joined with three other players, and we battled monsters and robots while trying to fill pizza order for delivery.
I really appreciated the way players could work collaboratively to focus on tasks they enjoyed most. For example, I spent a good portion of the demo gathering pizza ingredients, adding them to the pie, and then baking them in the over (not too long so it didn’t burn!) and then sending it to the delivery pod.
My teammates kept messing up the orders and that led to the delivery pods exploding. Eventually, I focused on food preparation while they battled the chaotic hordes. I wished my teammates were better at defending me though because I eventually succumbed to the violence and chaos around me.
My favorite aspect of Pizza Bandit was that I could customize my loadout to fit my play style. Since my teammates were strangers, we couldn’t communicate well (it was loud in the convention hall), and I knew I wanted to focus on filling orders rather than combat, I elected to bring two sentry / auto turrets with me and set them up around my kitchen area.
The game still has some development to do, but the team hopes to have it in early access in 2025. I’m excited to see the finished product and will definitely be playing the game… while enjoying a hot pizza!
