We made our annual stop by the Geek Therapeutics booth at PAX West to talk with Dr. Anthony Bean about what’s new from his company. We were delighted to discover that the publisher has just released a brand new book in the Psychology of… series—The Psychology of Bluey. This is, of course, about the hit children’s TV show Bluey from Disney / ABC Kids, which follows the daily life of the lovable Blue Heeler family, exploring the challenging of childhood and parenting.

I asked Dr. Bean about his decision to publish a Psychology of… book on Bluey, given that its content is a departure from the typical deep-dive into highly adult games and franchises. He said, “Everyone who worked on the book has children; it’s close to the heart for all of us. The show gets us appropriately into the digital age, and it’s beloved at home with my family.”
Dr. Bean noted that despite the book being out of the norm for their typical content, it had already sold a case within the first few hours of day one at PAX West. Edited and arranged by Dr. Bean, the book features a range of topics related to parenting and childhood from a number of talented authors.
