The 2024 Bossies, the second annual presentation of the awards, has its nominees for Best Strategy Game.
The Bossies is an award show the Boss Rush Network hosts that is a celebration of video games and entertainment. The event is not beholden to announcements and trailers, rather votes come directly from the community.
The award show aims to feature games and entertainment that deserves recognition as the Boss Rush team highlights the best of the year, including content the industry may have overlooked.
Furthermore, the Boss Rush team has partnered many from around the industry who are big fans of gaming and entertainment. These include Indie developers, game publishers, and content creators.
The 2024 Bossies nominations for Best Strategy Game are:
Frostpunk 2 by 11 Bit Studio: This game is a city-building survival game set 30 years after the first Frostpunk (2018). Players assume the role as a leader in an early 20th Century alternate history charged with building and managing a city during a worldwide volcanic winter.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess by CAPCOM: This action-strategy game blends real-time strategy with tower-defense mechanics. Players take control of Soh who must protect Yoshiro, a divine maiden. Yoshiro aims to cleanse villages of corruption, hoping to return peace to Mt. Kafuku.
Manor Lords by Slavic Magic: This medieval city-builder and real-time strategy game is set in late 14th-Century Franconia where players focus on city-building and conquest warfare. The game doubles as a colony simulation and aims for historical accuracy in its gameplay.
Metal Slug Tactics by Leikir Studio: This turn-based tactics game is a spinoff of the larger run-and-gun Metal Slug series. Players control one of three soldiers in the Peregrine Falcons as they seek to quall a rebellion and prevent further war by defeating rebel leader Donald Morden.
Unicorn Overlord by Vanillaware: This tactical role-playing game is Vanillaware’s first game since 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim’s 2019 release. Exiled Prince Alain gathers allies to free the war-torn nations of Fevrith from the Zenoiran Empire. Battles happen in real time.
While voting has closed for the 2024 Bossies, you can still tune in on Thursday, Jan. 16 to see which strategy game takes home the award. The event starts at 8:30 p.m. EST with a pre-show while the main event begins at 9 p.m. EST. Catch the event on YouTube.
