One of the shining new features of Nintendo’s latest console is the ability for the Joy-Con 2 to be used as a mouse. When booting up the Switch 2, you may have seen a quick tutorial; however, if you were like me, I clicked through it because I didn’t need to use mouse controls right away. If you need a refresher, here is a quick and wicked guide on activating mouse controls on your Switch 2 Joy-Con 2.
What:
Mouse controls can be activated on one or both Joy-Con 2. This capability doesn’t work on the original Switch Joy-Con even if you are using them on the Switch 2 console.
When:
Mouse controls can be utilized on the Home page and any compatible game.
How
- Detach your Joy-Con 2 from the Switch 2 console.
- Nintendo recommends attaching the straps. After testing it out, I also recommend it as it provides a flat surface for the table. But please note that this is not a requirement.
- Lay one or both Joy-Con 2, color-side down, on the surface
- Ensure you are using a smooth, flat surface like with any other mouse
- This should activate mouse mode
- If you are playing a game and do not see the mouse, check the game’s settings. Some games require you to turn mouse-setting on, such as Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition.
- Controls:
- You can use A or the trigger buttons to “click”.
- You can use the control stick to scroll as needed.
Voila! You now can play with a mouse on your Switch 2! Enjoy!
