Atlus to Celebrate Persona 25th Anniversary with “Seven Project Reveals.”

2–3 minutes

2021 marks the 25th anniversary of the widely popular Persona franchise of video games, and to mark the occasion publisher and developer Atlus is planning seven unique “project reveals”, the first one coming this September and the final reveal in autumn 2022.

To help celebrate the anniversary, a website has been created, in which special Persona related news will be shared, as well as commemorative merchandise fans can purchase.

The Persona games started in 1996 with Revelations: Persona for the Sony PlayStation. The series began as a spin-off of the Megami Tensei franchise, which itself launched in 1987 with Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei for the NES and PC. Since then, the Persona series alone has sold more than 15 million units worldwide.

It is unknown what these “project reveals” will consist of, as the Persona franchise has quite a large reach. In addition to the five main games (many of which have had remakes and expanded additions over the years), there have been the Persona Q series on the Nintendo 3DS, Persona rhythm games such as Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight, 2D fighting games like Persona 4 Arena, and a musuo action title called Persona 5 Strikers, among many others.

The protagonist for Persona 5, Joker, also has been a part of the roster for Nintendo’s hit Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game for the Switch since April, 2019.

Lastly, the successful psychological horror puzzle game Catherine is also related to the Persona series, with the games being developed by the same team and sharing some crossover Easter Eggs.

The fact that Atlus has announced “project reveals” and not “game reveals” hints towards new crossovers, anime or manga adaptations, vinyl releases, or other such materials.

Also, since these will be “reveals,” it is to be expected that none of these projects will release in the same timeframe unless directly stated otherwise.

The “25” in the logo is striped in colors representing the main games. Will the sixth game’s color be white?

It’s curious to note that the logo for the 25th Anniversary is striped in six colors, each representing one of the main games, with the final (sixth) color being plain white. This could indicate that the sixth game’s dominant color will also be white, or that by autumn 2022 the next main title will be revealed and this color will see the appropriate change.

Curious fans can head to the website HERE, and in anticipation for the first news drop they can peruse the online store, which has a wide selection of key chains, pins, stickers, calendars, t-shirts, mugs, and many more.

What are your hopes for these seven project reveals? Will Persona 6 be announced as a result? Sound off in the comments below!
