In a somewhat surprising bit of news, Xbox fans on Twitter learned that God of War Ragnarök is the most-anticipated game for Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming,
The reveal by Spencer came in response to one of several questions posted by the official Xbox Twitter account. The tweet also asked gamers to name their first game, last game, favorite game, game they play the most, and game they want to play next, as well as another quirky caveman themed gaming question.
This isn’t the first time Spencer stated that he is looking forward to playing one of Sony’s most highly anticipated titles. God of War Ragnarök was originally scheduled for release in 2021 before delays designed to help Santa Monica Studio deliver “a top-quality game while maintaining the safety and wellbeing” of its team.
Prior to the game’s release date announcement, Santa Monica Studio creative director Cory Barlog urged followers to “treat the people that make the things we love with some human decency and respect” after some of the game’s developers received abuse on social media.
“So well said Cory,” Spencer chimed in on Barlog’s words. “Can’t wait to enjoy GoW when it comes out. And thanks to you and the team for the amazing work that goes into creating things we love. Thank you.”
Spencer stands alongside PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst who, last year, also chose God of War Ragnarök as his most anticipated game.
God of War Ragnarök launches on November 9, 2022, for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles. God of War Ragnarök was originally scheduled for release in 2021 before delays designed to help Santa Monica Studio deliver “a top-quality game while maintaining the safety and wellbeing” of its team pushing the release to a later date.
