AEW: Fight Forever Gets Gameplay Trailer During Full Gear PPV, Continuing Jump to Video Games

THQ Nordic recently unveiled a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming professional wrestling game AEW: Fight Forever, featuring a heavy emphasis on combat.

The publisher debuted the trailer during All Elite Wrestling’s pay-per-view Full Gear, adding to a previously-released trailer. The trailer indicated the game, which Yuke’s developed, is “coming soon” and will be on PlayStation 4 and 5; Xbox One and Series X/S; PC; and Nintendo Switch.

The trailer featured a mixture of gameplay and AEW wrestlers — including Jon Moxley, Hangman Adam Page, Chris Jericho, and Dr. Britt Baker, DMD — narrating game features.

Per the trailer, players can embark on career modes, create their own wrestler, use signature moves of current AEW wrestlers, and compete in a variety of gimmick matches using weapons.

AEW: Fight Forever carries the official licensing from AEW, the first console video game to do so.

This is the third video game from the wrestling brand but the first to appear on consoles. The other two — AEW Casino: Double or Nothing and AEW Elite General Manager — both debuted in 2020 on mobile devices.

THQ Nordic initially announced the game back in August at its showcase. The original trailer featured Baker and AEW announcer Tony Schiavone playing the game and showcasing features.

The initial reveal had marketing material that featured wrestler CM Punk front and center. This reveal did not include Punk, coming on the heels of alleged friction between him and AEW

Punk returned to wrestling in 2021 after a seven-year hiatus and featured heavily in AEW programming until a fight broke out between him and fellow wrestlers Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. Many are reporting this incident as real-life heat rather than a wrestling storyline.

AEW officially began in 2019 with its first PPV being in May of that year. It debuted a weekly show called Dynamite in October and expanded to a second show called Rampage in 2021.

When AEW and Turner originally inked their programming deal, many saw the brand as the first legitimate competition to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in decades

It’s notable that this would extend into the video game realm as WWE has produced numerous video games throughout the years. AEW’s leap into video games further establishes its presence in the world of pro wrestling.

As far as gameplay, it’s exciting to see how this game will look and play. Wrestling fans should be thrilled about the continued options available to them through a variety of media. Non-wrestling fans may just find a lot of action-packed fun.
