The Nintendo Switch changed the game when it allowed players to take their games on the go along with playing on their TVs.
While handheld mode has become a popular feature, there is still docked mode that many utilize, sometimes using it exclusively.
It’s no secret the Switch lags behind both Xbox and PlayStation when it comes to power and graphics. That said, Nintendo has found ways to get all it can out of its console while docked.

Games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild both look great on the Switch, performing well given the constraints.
Many other games fall into this category, so much so that people prefer to only play them in docked mode.
So what games do you prefer to play exclusively in docked mode? For me, it’s the big adventure games.
I’ve played Breath of the Wild both in handheld and docked mode. I would much rather play the game docked rather than handheld.
Playing docked helps me to get more immersed in the game. Having my soundbar play the atmospheric soundtrack just grips me better.
The same goes for games like Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age, Astral Chain, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. I’ve held off on a few games because I’ve only wanted to play it in docked mode.

Super Mario Odyssey was another one that I loved in docked mode. I love how this game looks and I prefer playing 3D Mario games docked.
A lot of this comes down to my traditionalist mindset. There’s always been something to playing video games on the TV.
Don’t get me wrong, handheld mode is great and helps many of us who have tight schedules. I just prefer playing games on the TV when I can.
So what about you? What games do you prefer to play in docked mode? What about docked mode do you enjoy? Let us know in the comments below or head over to our Discord channel to join into the conversation.
