PAX East 2023: Do Good While Feeling Good Playing A Corgi’s Cozy Hike

We’ve seen it with Stray. We’ve seen it with Pupperazzi. Video games that involve our canine and feline friends are just an innate good. Well, developer Scalisco takes it a step further with their up and coming game: A Corgi’s Cozy Hike, and I was lucky enough to not only try the demo but also chat with one of the developers.

I’ve arrived at my destination!

This two-dev team is on a mission to make a difference in the world while making their creative dreams comes true. Twenty percent of consumer purchases are donated to animal shelters. Yes. So, you can feel extra good as you platform around a bright and open world as an adorable corgi. We asked, why a corgi? One of the devs, Johnson, answered with delight–“When people see a corgi, they squeal”.

The devs at Scalisco have historically worked on two mobile games, and this will be their first venture into the PC/console space. They are excited to bring A Corgi’s Cozy Hike to PC/console because they have more content to work with on a non-mobile platform. So far, this title has spent three months in development.

A Corgi’s Cozy Hike is violence-free (and fall damage free) and takes some inspiration from A Short Hike. It consists mostly of platforming with light puzzle elements. Players can expect to relax in this world with an average play time of two hours. Scalisco is still tweaking a few more things like adding additional corgi coats.

“We are a two-person team that makes games that make the world a better place. Our non-violent games help people relax and have fun. We donate 20% of our revenue from our mobile games to animal shelters – totaling over $15,000! Our most supported shelters include Dog Gone Seattle and Austin Pets Alive and have helped more than 30 dogs get adopted thanks to our players and merchandise customers.”

I recommend keeping an eye on this game. Johnson mentioned that they will launch a Kickstarter on April 4th. We will be sure to update you with that information when it goes live. Until then, check out the trailer if you haven’t seen it yet:
