Superman: Legacy Officially Casts David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan

DC Studios has announced David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan will play Clark Kent and Lois Lane, respectively, in the upcoming film Superman: Legacy.

Superman: Legacy director James Gunn, also a co-architect of the new DC Universe, verified the information on Twitter. Gunn previously disclosed that Nicholas Hoult and Corenswet were also contenders.

The plot summary reads:

Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s (Corenswet) journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He embodies truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

Corenswet is best known for his breakout role in Netflix’s The Politician and made a brief appearance in Ti West’s period slasher Pearl, where he plays a seductive, smooth, and creepy movie projectionist.

Brosnahan has starred in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, for which she received an Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations. She has also appeared in House of Cards and Dead for a Dollar.

Superman: Legacy was unveiled alongside Gunn and Peter Safran’s revised DCU earlier this year, with the first chapter titled Gods and Monsters. The two are developing an eight-to-ten-year strategy, with stars likely to sign multi-decade contracts for film and television appearances. Other films that have been announced include Batman’s The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and more.

Superman: Legacy’s release date is set for July 11, 2025.
