With only a month to go before Blue Beetle bows on theater screens, DC has released a final three-minute trailer.

Blue Beetle stars Cobra Kai‘s Xolo Maridueña, and follows the modern, Jamie Reyes-version of the character as he navigates becoming the Blue Beetle thanks to the power of an ancient mystical construct known as The Scarab. Check out the trailer below.

The official Blue Beetle Twitter handle also has some hype new motion posters of key moments from the trailer.

Our Take

DC has truly started expanding into interesting territory with its extended universe, perhaps in anticipation of James Gunn taking the reigns. Movies like Aquaman, The Suicide Squad, Shazam, and The Flash have all taken on a lot more character and individuality than the early films focused on the core members of the Justice League. Adding to the intrigue of Blue Beetle are performances by Susan Sarandon, George Lopez and Harvey Guillén. On the whole, it feels like Blue Beetle is taking all the right cues from charismatic superhero films about lesser-known characters like Shang-Chi, Shazam, and Ant-Man.
