Analysis
Story Writing
I’m a huge fan of this story’s writing. I quite enjoy it compared to other dating games I’ve played before. It’s aware of itself and its genre meaning the game isn’t afraid to make fun of itself and its tropes. Furthermore, it is clear how well the main character and the Grim Reaper become entangled and bounce off each other. There clearly is tension between them (outside of the whole attempted soul reaping) that develops into a romantic relationship.

It is not solely built into this romance plotline, however. The game was clearly envisioned beyond the romance between the characters. There are specks of lore about the world sprinkled in the game. Although romance is still the main focus, the implications of certain lines the characters say and the interactions possible in the world make it evident that there are more people in the world than just the two main characters and more systems working behind the scenes that push the couple together.
Characterization
Through the character dialogues, the characterization of both the player and the Grim Reaper is clear. In fact, I think this aspect is the strongest part of the game which is understandable with a character-focused story.
Without giving away too many details, I found both the character the player controls and the Grim Reaper endearing. The possible reactions and responses to situations made me want to kick my feet and giggle.
I feel that this game would particularly be enjoyed by a younger audience. The way the characters speak and act remind me more of younger people, particularly people who frequently interact with TikTok. This isn’t too surprising to me since I first encountered this game through TikTok but it may come as a surprise to any new players who are not aware.
Gameplay
There are quite a few dialogue options for the player to go through. Although there are not as many endings compared to other dating simulations that have multiple romance paths, this game still has a lot of possibilities based on the number of responses available that the players can choose.
Outside of the dialogue interaction, the game also has other features players can enjoy. The player’s character is customizable, like building an avatar from scratch. Although there are not many options, it is still greatly entertaining. Furthermore, the developers clearly understood their player base. The pronouns of the main character are changeable, the gender, and even the way the character is complimented. It greatly makes the audience have a larger variety in comparison to other dating simulations I’ve played who mainly appeal to women. I spent quite a bit of time creating a character.
The bedroom is also customizable to a similar degree which makes it further appeal for players. The game does not have a lot of locations or moving around, so making a customizable room more appealing to see again and again is a little detail I appreciate.
There are minigames for players to enjoy between chatting including Wordle and little interactable things that make it possible to enjoy the game outside of the chat room.
Final Score (5 out of 5 Stars)
I greatly enjoyed playing the game, and the art itself was beautiful. The few tunes playing throughout the game were great as well. I went into it expecting a short, rather simple experience and came out feeling like I got a lot more. The dynamic between the main character and the Grim Reaper made it enjoyable to play out the love story between them.
