Genshin Impact‘s 4.5 update brought about a new game mode in which players create potions and sell them. This game mode has been well received by players, a few even suggesting that it should become permanent, like Genius Invokation TCG (TCG). There aren’t many permanent game modes within Genshin Impact that players can enjoy. In fact, the only permanent game modes that aren’t limited to Resin are TCG and Spiral Abyss. Chambers Nine to Twelve of Spiral Abyss is updated twice a month. TCG has a few different types of game modes, including being able to play against other players.
Unfortunately, these game modes are not for everyone. TCG is a strategy card game and can get repetitive after time. There aren’t many players that enjoy playing TCG once they’ve maxed out their Player Level and can’t gain anymore primogems. As for Spiral Abyss, due to the difficult enemies on top of the time limit, it can get frustrating. Many players struggle to complete, much less 36 star, Spiral Abyss. A 36 star Abyss means that you’ve defeated the enemies at the minimum amount of time to gain all three stars for the chamber and floor that the players are on.
The new Alchemy event, called Alchemy Ascension, would provide a new game mode for players. Players run the Alchemy shop by harvesting ingredients, prepping different potions with different effects, and then selling the created potions. How well the potions sell is based upon the type of potion created and the current market cycle. The ingredients used in the potions have their own shape and must be placed within slots. There is a limit to overlapping ingredients based upon your level. Each ingredient is associated with a different trait and has various effects, such as Constitution and Warm. These traits and effects influence the type of potion created.

Personally, I really enjoyed the alchemy event. It was a nice change of pace from the other game modes. If the alchemy event became permanent, there are some changes that would have to happen for me to think it would be a smart addition. The main one being rewards. At the moment, the rewards that players gain after completing a cycle is a currency only usable within the event itself. That I have no issue with, the issue I find is that there is no other reward once you complete the event. If the game mode became permanent, Hoyoverse should allow this as an alternative way to earn Mora (the in-game currency). It would also be nice if players could earn primogems as well, perhaps similar to how Spiral Abyss works. The alchemy shop could reset twice a month and players could make potions with certain effects to earn primogems. Once those potions are created, the player can continue to make and sell potions within the time period to gain Mora in addition to the specific alchemy shop currency.
At the moment, there doesn’t seem to be any signs that this event will become permanent. However, that said, I do believe that this would be a good addition to the permanent game modes within Genshin Impact. As a late game player, there is very little to do once you’ve reached this point. If this event became permanent, I would spend many hours working in my little shop to earn Mora. The game mode is new and refreshing for many players and doesn’t require too much strategy.
What do you think? Should Genshin Impact make the Alchemy Ascension event permanent? If they did, would you play this new game mode? Let us know in the comments below or join the Boss Rush Discord to continue the conversation!
