With the end of the 3.1 update of Honkai Star Rail in sight, a new feature has emerged. When choosing a build target, you can now pick the characters releasing in the next update. In this case, both Castorice and Anaxa have been added to the build preview so players can start pre-farming for them. These build previews enable players to select a future character after the live stream for the next update has occurred, allowing them to see the materials they need and their current best build recommendations.

This feature has been introduced differently before. Within the game menu, players could select the Game Tools tab and see the materials needed for a character before their release. However, it does not provide recommended artifacts and relics until the character is available in-game. Additionally, the Game Tools tab does not allow players to enter the domains necessary from within the tab. Instead, it requires players to exit the tab to find the applicable domain. Yet, the Build Target tab allows players to enter the domain directly.

This makes it significantly easier for players to farm for new characters. There’s less of a need to research builds or try to find the materials needed online. It also calculates the remaining materials players need to ascend their characters. This is especially helpful for new or unreleased characters, as often players don’t know what materials they need. This makes it significantly easier for players to pre-farm.
