Castorice has been announced to join Honkai Star Rail‘s roster of characters in the 3.2 update of the game. Revealed to be the third character following the path of Remembrance, Castorice is expected to become a must-pull character, according to recent leaks. Remembrance is the newest path in Honkai Star Rail, with only one character following that path outside of the Trailblazer. That character is Aglaea, a powerful DPS released in the 3.0 version.
In the game, each Amphoreus Character is associated with a specific Titan. These Titans are the ones who created Amphoreus and make up their Mythology. In this case, Castorice is associated with the Titan Thanatos, the god of Death. The Titans that Amphoreus characters are associated with, as well as canon characteristics, seem to influence their kits. Mydei, for instance, consumes HP within his attacks. This is due to his undying ability within the game.

According to leaks, which are subject to change, Castorice’s kit will focus on HP. Her damage will be based on her own HP and, supposedly, her attacks will drain the HP of her allies. This HP drain will increase the power and damage of her attacks, but also her Memosprite’s attacks. According to these leaks, the lower the HP the more powerful these attacks will be. Additionally, her ultimate is HP-based and not energy-based. After a certain amount of HP is drained, her ultimate will become active. While the HP drain is a risk in a turn-based game, it is important to note that current leaks state that her Memopsrite heals once it leaves the field. Again, this is based upon current leaks and might be changed before she is released into the game. Currently, her kit is extremely powerful and makes her a must-pull within the meta.
While Castorice’s kit has some resemblance to past characters, such as Jingliu, there haven’t been many team HP-draining mechanics in Honkai Star Rail. This could be a sign of more characters having this mechanic, or characters that get buffed by this mechanic, in the future. Additionally, it is already easy to prefarm for Castorice. While we don’t know for sure what she uses, it is relatively easy to make conclusions based upon what we do know and have in game. She’s a Quantum character and from Amphoreus, there is a Stagnant Shadow enemy that drops materials for Quantum characters that Tribbie uses. Tribbie is also a Quantum character from Amphoreus. Castorice would also need the same talent material as Aglaea and the Remembrance Trailblazer. Additionally, her relics and planar ornaments already seem to be in the game. The planar ornaments from the most recently added boss in Divergent Universe seems to be specially created for both Castorice and Anaxa based upon appearance and the effects it provides.
Castorice is a character that currently seems to be bringing a new meta to the game. Of course, pull whatever character you want for whatever reason you have. That said, Castorice is a character that I will be saving all my pulls and Stellar Jades for. Even without the leaks, she seems to be a genuinely interesting character that I would like to have on my account.
What do you think? Will you save for Castorice? Or are there other characters that you are going for instead? Let us know in the comments below or join the Boss Rush Discord to further the conversation!
