With the new year bringing new opportunities and games to players around the world, we’ll finally get to see the Nintendo Switch 2 have a full year to expand its game library. With support coming from third-party companies, indies, and second-party studios, we will get to see new ideas coming to us, along with Nintendo’s strong and well-known IPs. The question is, can Nintendo itself deliver us games that not only win us over but the industry as a whole, once again?

Without a doubt, it’s a possibility. Of course, as you read this, you would expect the answer to be no because a new Legend of Zelda title won’t be released, no sign of a 3D Mario game that will surpass Donkey Kong Bananza, and Koei Tecmo not doing Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. There are so many factors that they won’t and shouldn’t, but the possibility is strong.
Capcom bringing more titles to Switch 2 could lead to a partnership game. With Resident Evil: Requiem and Pragmata getting Amiibos, and probably more press than expected, it wouldn’t be odd if they came together and made a new IP exclusive to Switch 2. Just like Resident Evil 4 on the GameCube impacted third-party action games and survival horror, Nintendo and Capcom could do something so wild and become a game-changer that it could be a big win for Nintendo.

Another possibility is Nintendo could bring a new IP that rivals Grand Theft Auto VI, which could make Rockstar worry and delay its game again, giving Nintendo a major win in the industry. Nintendo knows how to do gameplay and change it in a way that other developers incorporate into their games (Z-targeting, anyone). With Grand Theft Auto VI being the most anticipated game this year, Nintendo is never afraid to bring a title of its own to rival it or to accommodate it. With so much unknown and surprises when it comes to them, we could see something spectacular and push their innovation even further in gaming.
Lastly, Nintendo can continue to be Nintendo and deliver a game from its well-known universe of IPs. It can, in reality, reach a perfect 10 from any of its games, and if it happens to get three titles with perfect 10s, that will say a lot about the way of creating enjoyable experiences that still hold up for this 137-year-old company.

With a new Yoshi, Fire Emblem, Mario Tennis, Pokémon Pokopia, The Duskbloods, Rhythm Heaven Groove, Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream, and Splatoon Raiders planned for this year, along with more announcements to come, we could see any of these games get a 10. It’s a possibility. Anything can happen.
As the Switch 2 continues to sell and gain popularity, Nintendo has a full year to deliver big in a way that, once again, makes it number 1 in gaming, just like it did with the Nintendo Switch. It will face obstacles and challenges from other games, but I believe Nintendo will be ready, and it will have the games that could deliver.
